Okay. Winston Moss Is Not a Legitimate DC Candidate

From McGinn:

"I talked to the people at the Rams," the NFL club source said. "Even Winston admitted he wasn't ready to be a head coach. They started asking him questions about defense and he wasn't very good with it. He said, 'I think I'd just hire coordinators. I'd be the motivator.' "

Cringe.

Wait- there are people who want this guy to be the next defensive coordinator of the Packers?

    Umm- no.

  3. So far all the information I've heard about Moss indicates that he is unqualified:

    1. The performance of the linebackers this past season, which was abysmal.

    2. Thinks Brady Poppinga is the best performing LB on the team. Unreal.

    3. Can't answer questions about the defense he wants to run. He might want to re-read the job description.

Has anything come out that suggests he actually is qualified to be a defensive coordinator?

  4. Well not anymore. But #3 is very new information.

Before this story came out, I was getting excited about his prospects. The fact that **other NFL teams held him in high regards** is(was) the best evidence we had to go on.

I take very little stock (read:almost no stock) in anything a coach says to the media. I also can't pin a ton of blame on a position coach for the play on the field. There is way too much going on behind the scenes.

But if other teams in the NFL seem to view him as a rising star, well I'd be inclined to believe there is something worth getting excited about. Again, this is before we found out that he really doesn't know anything but considers himself a great "motivator."
